Relay offers several different ways to upload your receipts. Please note that only Administrators, Managers, and Cardholders can upload receipts.
Please note: receipts can only be uploaded to card transactions at this time (not ACH payments, domestic wires, international wires, or check payments).
Different ways to upload receipts
For convenience, Relay offers five different ways to upload receipts to your account:
- Bulk uploading receipts to the Receipts page in Relay.
- Uploading receipts directly to a transaction in Relay.
- Uploading receipts via an SMS link.
- Uploading receipts via your receipt forwarding email.
- Uploading receipts via the Relay mobile app.
Receipts that are uploaded in bulk or via receipt forwarding will be auto-matched to their respective transactions. If a receipt cannot be auto-matched, you can view the receipts in your Receipt Inbox.
Please note: file sizes larger than 25 MB cannot be uploaded.
Bulk uploading receipts
There is no limit on how many receipts you can upload. When you upload receipts directly to a transaction, you may upload up to 5 receipts at a time. How to bulk upload:
How to upload multiple receipts at once
- Sign in to your Relay account
- Navigate to the Receipts page.
- Click Upload receipts here.
- Select the receipt files and click Open.
- Your files will process and auto-match to the corresponding transactions.
- Sign in to the Relay app on your mobile device.
- Navigate to the Settings tab. (cardholders will see this on the bottom tab) and select Receipts

Press Upload multiple receipts at once, and then you have three options to upload the receipts

- Take a live image of the receipt and it will auto-match with the transaction

Browse your photos
- Select the receipt images from your gallery and click done

Upload file
- Choose a file from your device and the receipt will be auto-matched to the transaction (format must be .PDF, .jpeg, .heic, or .png).

Uploading receipts directly to transactions
Receipts can be uploaded directly to a card transaction by Administrators, Managers, and Cardholders. Administrators can upload receipts for all transactions, Managers can upload receipts for transactions linked to the accounts they have access to, and Cardholders can upload receipts for the transactions linked to the card(s) assigned to them.
How to upload multiple receipts directly to transactions
- Sign in to your Relay account.
- Navigate to the Receipts page.
- Click a transaction that is missing a receipt.
- Upload files or select Add from Receipt Inbox (note: you can upload up to 5 receipts per transaction)
- Add more receipts or enter a description
- Sign in to the Relay app on your mobile device.
- Navigate to the Settings tab (cardholders will see this on the bottom tab) and select Receipts
- Click the Receipts missing tab
- Select the transaction that is missing the receipt and click Upload Receipt

Uploading receipts via an SMS link
SMS messages are sent to the Cardholder when a transaction within the receipt policy is created. It is important to note that if the card used for the transaction is a shared card, the SMS will be sent to the assigned cardholder, who may not be the team member making the purchase.
Receipts uploaded via SMS are auto-matched to the transaction specified in the SMS.
The link provided in the text message will expire after 1 hour.
How to upload:
- Click the link in the SMS received on your mobile device.
- Click Upload receipts here.
- Take a photo of the receipt or select it from your photo library.
- Add a memo if needed.
- Refresh the page to upload additional receipts.
- You may upload up to 5 receipts per transaction.
Uploading receipts via your receipt forwarding email
Receipt forwarding allows you to forward digital receipts (from online vendors like Amazon or Uber) to your designated email. Once a receipt has been forwarded, Relay will then auto-match the receipt to the associated transaction.
Receipts forwarded by email will live in the Receipt Inbox which can be viewed by Administrators, Managers, and Cardholders.
Please note: file sizes larger than 25 MB cannot be auto-matched.
How to upload:
- Sign in to your Relay account.
- Navigate to the Receipts page.
- Copy your receipt forwarding email.
- Open your email inbox, create a new message, and paste your receipt forwarding email address as the recipient.
- Attach your receipt to the email and hit Send.
Uploading receipts without a receipt policy
Receipts can still be uploaded without a receipt policy; however, if you select the policy “Don’t require receipts for any card transaction”, you will not be able to upload receipts via the SMS link because SMS notifications will not be sent.
Auto-matching
To attach a receipt that was not auto-matched, simply click on the transaction, click Add from Receipt inbox, and then select your receipt.
To un-match a receipt that has been matched to a transaction, simply click on the transaction, and then click Un-match.
