Using Relay’s Card Switching Tool

This article will walk through how to use Relay's Card Switching Tool powered by Knot.

Using Relay's Card Switching Tool

With the Card Switching Tool, you can move all card transactions to your Relay card in less than 30 seconds. Read on to learn more.

How it works

Relay partners with Knot, a secure third-party vendor that connects with hundreds of merchants and is trusted by Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Once you verify your account, Knot adds your Relay card as the primary payment method to your profile with merchants like Uber, Amazon, and Walmart. After the card is successfully added, the merchant will default to that card the next time you make a purchase or your subscription is renewed.

Team members with Administrator, Manager, or Cardholder permissions, and advisors with Super Administrator or Administrator permissions, can use the Card Switching Tool.

I don't see the Card Switching Tool, what should I do?

Please contact our Customer Experience Team and they will have the Card Switching Tool made available for your account.

What do I do if a merchant is not available?

If you’re switching your card on the web, try using the Relay mobile app; the app version of our Card Switching Tool has a complete list of the merchants supported by Knot.

Please note: not all merchants are supported by Knot. If a merchant is not available for switching via the mobile app, please reach out to our Customer Experience Team and we will request to have this merchant added.

What happens to your existing card details with a merchant?

Most merchants will support having multiple cards on file. When you add your Relay card using the Card Switching, your Relay card will become the primary payment method. Your existing card details will remain on file with the merchant, so long as they support having multiple cards on file.

Does Relay or Knot charge a fee to use the Card Switching Tool?

No, neither Relay nor Knot will charge a fee for you to use the Card Switching Tool.

Are login credentials required to use the Card Switching Tool?

Yes, login credentials are required. This is how Knot authenticates your account with the merchant.

Does the Card Switching Tool work for one-off purchases and subscriptions?

Yes, the Card Switching Tool works for both subscriptions and one-off purchases.

Can I use the Card Switching Tool if I’ve dismissed the in-app promotion?

Of course! Simply click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the card details page, and then click Switch business purchases to this card.
