What happens when my Relay card expires?

One month before your physical or virtual Relay card is due to expire, we will automatically re-issue a new card with the same card number but a new expiration date and CVV

When a new card will not be issued

There are certain conditions under which a new Relay card will not be automatically re-issued. They are:

  • The card which is expiring is frozen or terminated.
  • The card which is expiring was never activated.
  • There has been no card activity on the card which is expiring in the last 6 months. This includes all card-related transactions

Activating your new card

New virtual cards are issued and ready to use instantly and do not require manual activation.

New physical cards must be activated before they are ready for use. For instructions on how to activate a physical Relay debit card, please see Activating your physical Relay debit card.

Please note: upon activating your replacement debit card, your old card can no longer be used.

How long do cards have before they expire?

Cards are valid for 3 years following the date they are issued.
