Payment requests are currently in beta to a small group of customers. The beta program is invite-only.

Processing Fees

Collect payment in person simply by getting customers to tap their card on your phone, or type card details into Relay’s mobile app.

Fees will be deducted from each card payment, by Relay, before it settles in your account. The fee will be apparent within each payment’s transaction details once it settles in Relay. Fees will not be waived by Relay, and cannot be passed along to a customer to cover. We recommend offsetting fees by predetermining the fee and adding it to the amount you ask each customer to pay.

Tap to Pay

This is when you use your mobile phone as a card terminal and your customer pays in person by tapping their credit/debit card to your phone. The card can be any credit or debit card that is enabled for touchless payment; as well as mobile phone wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Cost to you: 2.6% + $0.10

Online

This is when you make a payment request from your Relay account for online payment to your customer. When enabled, your customer has the ability to pay online as they would in any online shopping experience with any debit or credit card.

Cost to you: 2.9% + $0.30

Manually Card Entry

This is when you use your mobile phone as a card terminal and manually enter your customer's card info (instead of tapping their card). This method is primarily used for collecting payment over the phone or where the person is not able to tap their card to your device. The card can be any credit or debit card.

Cost to you: 3.5% + $0.15
