Withdrawing cash at an ATM with your Relay debit card

You can use your physical Relay debit card at ATMs around the world to withdraw cash. Relay does not charge its own ATM withdrawal fees. However, the owner or operator of the ATM may charge a separate fee unless you are using an Allpoint ATM.

To minimize ATM fees, we recommend using the Allpoint network whenever possible.

Allpoint surcharge-free ATMs

Allpoint ATMs are surcharge-free for Relay debit cards. This means Allpoint does not charge an additional ATM fee for your withdrawal. You can still see a notification about fees on the ATM screen, but the withdrawal itself should not incur an Allpoint surcharge.

To find an Allpoint ATM near you or in a specific city:

  • Go to the Allpoint ATM locator website
  • Search by address, city, or postal code
  • Filter for Allpoint or Allpoint+ locations as needed

You can access the locator here: Allpoint ATM locator.

ATM withdrawal limits and fees

Your Relay debit card uses daily and monthly ATM withdrawal limits. These limits must be set on the card in order to successfully withdraw cash at ATMs.

For step-by-step instructions on viewing or changing your card limits, see: Editing your Relay card .

Allpoint ATMs have a $400 withdrawal limit per transaction at all locations. If you need to withdraw more than $400, you may be able to complete multiple transactions, subject to the daily and monthly limits set on your Relay card.

How ATM fees interact with your withdrawal limit

The amount that counts toward your ATM limit is the final transaction amount, which is the withdrawal amount plus any ATM operator fee.

This means that ATM fees can cause a transaction to go over the withdrawal limit set for your card and result in a decline.

Example: Your card has a daily ATM withdrawal limit of $200. You attempt to withdraw $200 at a non-Allpoint ATM that charges a $3 fee. The final transaction amount becomes $203, which is above your daily limit of $200. In this case, the withdrawal will be declined because the total amount exceeds the set limit.

Cash deposits at Allpoint+ ATMs

Cash deposits are currently supported at Allpoint+ ATMs across the U.S. Allpoint+ locations allow you to add cash directly to your Relay account using your physical debit card.

For full details on how to deposit cash, including limits, processing times, and how to find Allpoint+ ATMs, see: Adding cash to your Relay account.

Cash advances

Relay cards do not support cash advances at this time. You can use your Relay debit card for standard ATM withdrawals where supported, but not for credit-based cash advance transactions.

FAQs: ATM withdrawals, deposits, and fees

Does Relay charge ATM withdrawal fees?

Relay does not charge its own ATM withdrawal fees when you use your Relay debit card at ATMs. However, non-Allpoint ATMs may charge an additional fee set by the ATM owner or operator.

Are Allpoint ATMs really surcharge-free?

Yes. Allpoint ATMs are surcharge-free for Relay debit cards. While you might still see a generic fee message on the ATM screen, Allpoint does not charge you a withdrawal fee when you use your Relay card.

You can confirm you are using an in-network machine by locating it via the Allpoint ATM locator.

What is the maximum amount I can withdraw at an ATM?

Your maximum ATM withdrawal is determined by two things:

  • The daily and monthly ATM withdrawal limits you (or an admin) set on your Relay debit card
  • The per-transaction limit at the ATM you’re using

Allpoint ATMs have a $400 withdrawal limit per transaction. Your overall daily and monthly limits are configured in your Relay card settings.

Why was my ATM withdrawal declined even though I was under my limit?

ATM withdrawals are based on the final transaction amount, which includes the cash you withdraw plus any ATM operator fee. If that combined total is higher than your set daily or monthly limit, the withdrawal will be declined.

For example, a $200 withdrawal at an ATM that charges a $3 fee results in a final transaction of $203. If your daily limit is $200, this will exceed the limit and decline.

Can I deposit cash into my Relay account at an ATM?

Yes. Cash deposits are supported at Allpoint+ ATMs in the U.S. You can deposit cash using your Relay debit card at participating Allpoint+ locations.

For instructions and more details, see: Adding cash to your Relay account.
