Obtaining your Incorporation Document(s)
If you have misplaced your incorporation document(s), you can find a copy on the Department or Secretary of State website for the state under which your company is filed. This is done through a business entity search. To find your state’s entity search page, visit our list of Secretary of State Business Entity Search Links. Once you click your state’s link, enter your company name and entity type to find the document.
Depending on the state, obtaining a copy of your Articles of Incorporation could be free, or cost a small fee.
What is This Document and Why Do I Need It?
The Articles of Organization, Articles of Incorporation, Certificate of Formation, Certificate of Organization, or Certificate of Incorporation is a document that outlines your business when you form an LLC. Relay sometimes requires LLCs to provide this document to open an account.
