Resetting your Xero Bank Feed

If you are experiencing connectivity issues between your Relay and Xero accounts, please follow the instructions below to reset the connection. This can be a helpful step to re-establish the flow of transaction data into Xero if a sync failure occurs.

Please note: adding, editing, or removing integrations is only possible on Relay via desktop at this time, as these features are not currently supported on the Relay mobile app.

If you're seeing sync errors or disconnected feeds, you may need to reset your Xero bank feed. This involves disconnecting from Xero and reauthorizing the connection on both the Xero and Relay sides.

Before you start

  • You must be an Administrator or Manager in Relay.

  • You must have permission to manage bank feeds in Xero (typically Standard or Advisor roles).

Steps to reset your Xero integration

  1. Disconnect in Xero

    • Sign in to Xero.

    • Go to Accounting → Bank accounts.

    • Find the Relay account(s), click the More options (···) menu, then select Disconnect feed.

  2. Disconnect in Relay

    • Sign in to Relay and go to Settings → Integrations.

    • Click Manage on the Xero integration panel.

    • Click the red Disconnect from Xero button at the top of the panel.

  3. Reconnect the integration

    • In Relay, click on the Xero integration tile.

    • Follow the OAuth prompts to sign in to Xero, select your organization, and authorize access.

  4. Reconfigure sync settings

    • Once reconnected, click Manage again.

    • Re-select the Relay accounts you want to sync under Bank Feeds.

    • Optionally adjust your Imports and Transaction Detail Settings as needed.

Please note: only settled transactions will appear in Xero.

Troubleshooting

“Sync now” is greyed out

Confirm that both Relay and Xero are connected. If one side was disconnected, reset the integration following the steps above.

“Bank feed not responding” or “Authentication error”

This often means Relay’s token has expired or Xero permissions changed. Resetting the connection usually resolves it.
