Editing a Bill in Relay

Relay now allows you to edit imported bills directly from within the platform — no need to switch back to your accounting integration. This feature works for bills synced from both QuickBooks Online and Xero.

When you click into a bill from the Unpaid tab, you’ll now see a streamlined review-style interface that lets you:

  • Update key bill details (e.g., amount, due date)
  • Add or edit internal notes (these will sync back to QBO or Xero)
  • Save changes and immediately see the updated information reflected in your accounting software

Changes you make in Relay will sync back to the bill in your accounting platform, so your records stay up to date across systems.


Permissions and Limitations

  • Only certain roles can edit certain bill statuses:
    • Admins can edit bills that are already approved
    • Users with limited permissions may only be able to view or approve
  • Bills in terminal states — such as Paid or Marked as Paid — are read-only and cannot be edited
  • This feature is currently rolling out, so it may not be available to all users just yet

This update helps you stay within Relay for more of your workflow — edit, approve, and manage bills all from one place, with full sync to your accounting platform.
