Navigating to the bill payments feature

Once logged in to your Relay account, select the Payments tab and then select Unpaid Bills, which is listed under the Action Items section.

You will automatically be taken to the Unpaid Bills view within the bill pay table.

Under the Status column in the Unpaid Bill table, you will see an Approved, Awaiting Approval or Unpaid status. This status can be used to determine whether your bill is ready for immediate payment or still needs to be approved.

How to make a batch bill payment for approved bills

Select the bills you want to batch pay by checking the box beside the approved bills.

Once the checkboxes are selected for the bills you want to batch pay, select the Initiate Payment button.

Next, you will be prompted to enter payment information for your first unpaid bill. Under Payment Method, you will have different payment options (ACH, Wire, or Check) available based on the information you have on file for this payee.

If you don’t already have the payee information on file, please proceed with one of the following:

If you have an email address on file for the payee, you can use the request payment information option. More information on this is available here: Requesting Payment Information from Payees.

If you don’t have an email address on file for the payee, you can manually enter the payment information by selecting the “Enter or request this payee's details" option, and following the instructions.

Once the above step is completed, you will be prompted to complete the following steps:

Enter a reason for payment or payment memo.

Select the checking account the funds will be withdrawn from.

If you would like to receive an email notification when this payment reaches the destination bank, then select the appropriate box and click Next.

Continue to pay the remaining bills in the batch payment by following the same steps as laid out in the above steps 3 and 4.

Once completed, confirm payment details and click Done to initiate payment.

Review the payment information, and click Done to return to the home screen.
- This page will only appear once you have initiated payments for each of your selected bills.
How to combine multiple bills into one bill payment for the same payee
If you are making a batch payment, and more than one of the unpaid bills has the same payee, you will be prompted to choose whether or not you want to combine the bill amounts into a single transaction. Please see the following steps for further details.
- Select the bills you want to batch pay by checking the box beside the approved bills. Once the checkboxes are selected for the bills you want to batch pay, click the Initiate Payment button.

If one or more unpaid bill has the same payee, our system will ask you to check a box to confirm if you want to combine the payments into a single transaction. If you wish to do so, check the box and click Next.

Once completed, you will be prompted to enter the payment information as usual. Please see steps 3-8 in the section titled, “How to Make a Batch Bill Payment for Approved Bills” for more information on completing the payment.
Things to know

What if I want to pay someone but I don’t have their account information? If you have an email address on file for the payee, you can use the request payment information option. More information on this is available here: Requesting Payment Information from Payees.

What will happen if I combine my payments for the same payee? The unpaid bills will be consolidated into one single transaction for the payee. Once paid, the bills will be listed separately within QuickBooks or Xero. When clicking on a bill in your accounting software you will be able to view the Relay transaction ID associated with the bill payment.

What if I don’t want to combine my payments for the same payee? If you don’t want to combine your payments for the same payee, then all you need to do is make sure the box remains unchecked, and click Next.

What happens if I choose to be notified when payment reaches the destination bank? The person who is logged in while making the bill payment and checks the box will receive a notification via email once the payment reaches the destination bank. Please know, this is only available for ACH payments.
