Relay provides MasterCard debit cards which can be used anywhere credit cards are accepted. Relay debit cards will only pull available funds from its linked checking account, it won't issue a credit.

Issuing a Card through the Mobile App
To follow these steps, you will need to have the Relay mobile app installed on your phone. You can find instructions for getting the Relay mobile app here.

Navigate to the Cards tab once you have logged into the mobile app. Then, click the plus icon at the top-right corner of the screen.

Select what type of card you want to issue. For the purpose of this article, we will be issuing a physical card.

Choose which checking account you want this card to pull funds from. Make sure you choose the correct account, as you will not be able to change this after the card has been issued.

You can either issue a company card or an employee card for a specific member of your team.

If you wish to issue a company card, click the this is a business card button at the bottom of the screen.

In this example we will issue a card for a team member, so we will click on a team member's name from the list provided.

Give the card a nickname, enter the spending limits, and choose whether you wish to enable foreign transactions. You will be able to change these settings later.

That’s it, you’ve issued a new card! If this was a physical card, you will need to activate it once it arrives.
Activating a Physical Card through the Mobile App
If you issued a physical card, it will ship within 8-10 business days of your account verification, more information on this is available in this article. Once you receive your physical card you will need to activate it before you are able to use it. Here’s how to do it through the mobile app:
- Open the Relay mobile app, go to the Cards tab, and swipe through your business cards until you see the inactive card. It will appear grey. Click Activate card.

Enter the last four digits of your physical card number.

If you entered the last 4 digits correctly, you will be asked to create a PIN number. Set your PIN number and confirm it again on the following screen.

That’s it! Your physical card is now ready to use.
Things to Know

After you issue a card, you cannot change which of your Relay checking accounts it pulls funds from. Make sure you are selecting the correct account when you are issuing the card.

You can edit the card’s nickname, spending limits, and whether foreign transactions are allowed after it has been issued. More information on this is available here: How to Set and Edit Debit Card Transaction Limits in the Relay App.

If you do not enable foreign transactions, some digital purchases may be returned if they are from outside of the U.S.
