Cash Insights helps you understand how your cash changes over time. It shows your cash inflows, cash outflows, and net cash so you can compare trends, review specific accounts, and make more informed day-to-day decisions.
What you can do with Cash Insights
With Cash Insights, you can:
- See a historical view of money coming in and money going out
- View your net cash over time
- Compare performance across different time periods
- Switch from a high-level summary to an account-by-account view
- Filter to the accounts that matter most to you, like your operating accounts
- Drill into the underlying transactions
- Choose whether to include or exclude internal transfers
Note: Credit card transactions are not included.
What you’ll see in Cash Insights
Cash Insights gives you a clearer view of your business cash position with three main metrics:
Cash inflows
This is the money coming into your accounts.
Cash outflows
This is the money leaving your accounts.
Net cash
This is the difference between your inflows and outflows for the selected period. It can help you quickly see whether your cash position is improving or declining.
Note: Internal transfers between your Relay accounts are excluded from Cash Insights calculations by default. You can include them using the Include Transfers toggle. Keep in mind: when transfers are included, your inflow and outflow totals may appear higher than expected, since money moving between your own accounts is counted in both directions.
How to use Cash Insights
Start by reviewing the overall summary to understand your cash movement at a high level. From there, you can narrow your view by selecting specific accounts and choosing the timeframe you want to review.
This makes it easier to answer questions like:
- How is my business performing over time?
- Is my cash position getting stronger or weaker?
- What accounts are driving the biggest changes?
The Cash Insights feature is available to users with Administrator and Super Administrator permission levels. If you're logged in as an employee-level user and don't see Cash Insights on your account home page, check with your account administrator regarding your assigned permission level.
View cash activity by account
If you want more detail, you can move from the aggregate view into an account-by-account summary. This helps you focus on the accounts that are most relevant to your business and better understand how each one contributes to your overall cash position.
Compare trends over time
Cash Insights lets you review different time periods so you can spot patterns and changes in your cash movement. The visualizations also help you see whether your performance is better or worse than the previous period.
Why Cash Insights is useful
Cash Insights helps you quickly understand what is happening to your cash and how that is changing over time. This can make it easier to manage daily decisions, review your business performance, and reconcile your cash activity with your records.
