With your Relay account, you can receive international wire transfers using the SWIFT network. These are processed by our wire partners, The Currency Cloud Limited or Community Federal Savings Bank, before being deposited into your Relay account.
There are two different wire details for receiving international wires sent in USD or non-USD.
This article guides you through locating your international wire details (i.e., the SWIFT code and IBAN for your account, etc.).
Note: Please ensure that the country from which you are receiving a wire is on our list of eligible countries.
Choosing your receiving international wire account
If you're receiving your first international wire transfer, follow these instructions to select the designated receiving account. Please note that this can only be done on a desktop, as this feature is not currently supported on the Relay mobile app.
- Sign in to your Relay account on your desktop.
- Navigate to the Accounts tab.
- Select Manage accounts from the dropdown menu.
- Click Receiving International Wire Account.
- Select the checking account you would like your international wires to be deposited into from the dropdown menu. There can only be one designated international wire deposit account at this time.
- Click Save.
You can always change this later in your Settings.
How to receive an international wire
Please note that account information will be different for wires sent in USD or non-USD.
To find your account information on your desktop:
- Once you have saved your preferred deposit account following the steps listed above, please head back to the Accounts tab.
- Click on the checking account you have selected as your deposit account.
- Click Details.
- Click International Wires under Receive Money.
- Choose non-USD or USD, depending on the currency of the incoming international wire payment. Once selected, you will see all of the necessary details you need to receive international wires into your Relay account (including your SWIFT code, account number, and our intermediary bank's name and address).
Please note: if an international wire payment in USD is sent to your non-USD account, the funds will be returned to the sender. The timeline of return is dependent on that of the sending bank.
What is Relay's Sort Code?
Relay does not require a Sort Code to be able to process incoming international wires; if the individual/entity sending you money asks for a Sort Code, you can kindly let them know that Relay does not use Sort Codes. All of the information you need to receive an international wire will be visible upon following the steps outlined above.
What's my Bank Identifier Code (BIC)?
Relay uses SWIFT codes in order to process incoming international wires. Your SWIFT code can be found by following the steps outlined above.
SWIFT codes and number of designated accounts
One SWIFT code is for receiving international wires sent in USD and the other is for receiving international wires sent in non-USD.
We support only one designated deposit account for international wires at this time.
Limits, processing timeline, and fees
All accounts have limits on how much you send by international wire per day and month. For more information on how to view your account limits, please see Viewing your account limits.
For an understanding of incoming/outgoing international wire timelines, please see Transaction settlement and processing timelines for more information.
Relay does not charge a fee to receive international wires, although there is a $10 fee to send an international wire from your Relay account unless you're subscribed to Relay Pro.
Tracking international wires
International wires can be tracked with an MT103 document. The sender will be able to request this from their bank. If you're sending an outgoing international wire and need to provide tracking information to the recipient, please see Downloading an MT103 for more information on how to obtain this document.
Currency conversion and exchange fees
You can receive funds in the same currencies available when sending an international wire from your account. However, please note that these funds will automatically convert to USD as Relay accounts can only hold funds in USD.
For more information on exchange fees, please see Converting currency in Relay.
