Overview
After you submit your Relay application, your business details go through a multi-step review process to ensure compliance with U.S. banking regulations. This article explains each stage of the process, common status updates, and what to expect if follow-up is needed.
Initial Application Review
Once your application is submitted:

You'll receive a confirmation email.

Relay begins reviewing your submitted business and personal details.

Most applications are reviewed within 1–2 business days.
If additional information or documentation is needed, you’ll receive an email prompting you to log in and take action.
Application Statuses: What They Mean
Approved
Your account has been successfully opened and is ready to use. You can log in, link external accounts, and begin transacting.
In Review
Your application is being reviewed by Relay’s compliance and banking partners. This is the most common status immediately after submission.
Waiting on Documents
One or more required documents are missing or unclear. You'll be asked to re-upload a photo ID, proof of address, EIN letter, or business formation documents.
Waiting on Beneficial Owner
If your business has multiple owners (25%+), each one must complete their part of the registration. Your application will remain pending until all owners submit their information.
Under Review
Some applications are flagged for additional screening by our onboarding team. If this applies to you, you’ll receive an email with instructions or questions to answer.

Next Steps After Approval
Once your account is approved:

You’ll receive a welcome email from Relay.

You can log in to your dashboard.

Start linking an external bank account or make your first deposit.

Invite team members or your accountant, if needed.
