Why can't I transfer funds?
When initiating a transfer, the amount entered cannot exceed the displayed available balance in your Relay checking account. The available balance in Relay is updated instantly with every transaction made and can be viewed by navigating to the Accounts tab and selecting the desired Relay account. For more on how to understand your balance, please see Understanding your available balance, running balance, and pending transactions.
You can only initiate transfers into external accounts from checking accounts. If you would like to transfer funds from your savings account, you will first need to create an internal transfer in Relay between your savings and checking account, then follow the steps outlined above to send money to your external account.
Limits, processing timeline, and fees
All accounts have limits on how much you can transfer both in and out of Relay per day and per month. For more information on how to view your account limits, please see Viewing your account limits. For guidance on how to request a transaction limit increase, if needed, please see Requesting a transaction limit increase.
External transfers take 1 to 3 business days to clear; additionally, the receiving institution may have its own clearing times for incoming transactions. For specific timelines, we recommend contacting your external institution.
There is no fee associated with sending money from Relay to your linked external account.
Can I edit the nickname of a linked external bank account?
