This article will walk through the process of verifying payments via SMS (i.e., text message). This verification step is necessary to protect your Relay account and keep your money safe, ensuring that outgoing payments are authorized by the account holder.

How to Verify Payments via SMS 2FA

You may, at times, be prompted for SMS payment verification. This is what thee process will look like:

  1. Sign in to your Relay account.
  2. Navigate to the Payments tab.
  3. Click New Payment at the top-right corner of your screen.
  4. Select a recipient from the list of payees shown or add a new payee.
  5. Select a Payment method.
  6. Select the source account for the payment.
  7. Enter the payment amount.
  8. Customize the payment with the desired frequency, payment date, and memo.
  9. Confirm all required fields have been filled out, then click Next.
  10. Confirm the payment details, then click Initiate Payment.
  11. If the payment requires verification, an SMS code will be sent to your mobile device.
  12. On the verification page, enter the SMS code sent to your mobile device to authorize the payment.

Can I Remove Payment Verification from My Account?

To enhance the security of your account, we've introduced this feature for transactions as an added layer of security, and it will remain in effect moving forward. That said, we are dedicated to making your experience as seamless as possible. Our teams will be fine-tuning this feature on an ongoing basis to reduce any inconvenience while keeping your account fully secure.

SMS two-factor authentication is an essential component of multi-factor authentication (MFA). Verifying payments through unique SMS codes adds an extra layer of security, which prevents unauthorized parties from accessing or misusing your funds.
