If you're an accountant or bookkeeper with a firm account on Relay, this article will walk through how to invite your clients to Relay so you can assist with their banking needs all from your Relay Partner Portal.

How to invite a client business through the Partner Portal

  1. Sign in to your Relay account on your desktop.
  2. Click Add Client at the top-right corner of the dashboard you see upon login (i.e., your Partner Portal). 
  3. Here, you will be asked "Who will fill out the application?" Click The advisor (me), then click Next
  4. Enter the business owner's information by filling out all of the required fields. For non-profits and businesses owned by holding companies, please enter the information of the person responsible for the legal entity such as a CEO, CFO, President, Vice President, Treasurer, etc. If there are multiple owners, you will be prompted to enter the information for the additional owners later in the application process. 
  5. Once all required fields are properly filled out, click Next
  6.  Enter your client's business information by filling out all of the required fields, then click Next when done.  
  7. If there are additional Beneficial Owners, you will now be prompted to enter their details. Once all of the required fields are filled out, click Next
  8. Once the application has been submitted, we will reach out to the Beneficial Owners via email for identity verification, ask them to create a password, and set up two-factor authentication (2FA) to secure their accounts.

Please note: if you do not wish to fill out your client's application on their behalf, simply select The client instead of The advisor (me) in step 3 above. This will prompt you to send the client an email invitation to apply themselves.

How to resend or cancel an invite

If you've invited a client to join Relay and wish to resend or cancel their invitation, please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Sign in to your Relay account on your desktop.
  2. Within your client dashboard, you will see the option to Resend or Cancel your invite beside your client's email address.

Please note: cancelling an invite will remove the client from your dashboard and invalidate the invitation link in the invite email. If you wish to re-invite the client to Relay in the future using the same email address, you can still do so. 

How long is the email invitation link valid?

Email invitation links are valid for 4 weeks. If your client has not accepted their invite within this timeframe or never received the email, you can resend or cancel the invite.

What access will I have to the client's account?

An advisor's permission level will automatically be set to Administrator for the client's account when a client is invited. This can be changed by the business owner at any time by following the steps outlined here. Switching between clients

If you're logged into one of your clients' accounts on Relay and want to switch over to another client (or your own firm's business account), simply click on the three vertical dots at the bottom-left corner of your screen, then click Switch Client

If you're on the Relay mobile app, head over to Settings > Switch business.
