Overview of the Relay Visa® Credit Card

Important Eligibility Notice

The Relay Visa® Credit Card is available only to businesses that meet our eligibility requirements. Eligibility is confirmed during the in-app application review.

What is the Relay Visa® Credit Card?

The Relay Visa® Credit Card is a charge card that supports your cash flow and helps you control team spending.


How can the Relay Visa® Credit Card benefit your business?

  • Cash-flow management: Make critical purchases now and pay later—without immediately using funds in your checking accounts.
  • Team spending: Issue employee cards without extra fees or bank visits. Set limits and controls per card and monitor every transaction.
  • Spending rewards: Earn up to 1.5% cash back on eligible purchases, depending on your Relay plan.
  • Build business credit: Payment activity is reported to major commercial credit bureaus, helping your business build credit history over time.
  • Fraud protection: Because charges don’t pull directly from your checking account, you have more time to dispute unauthorized transactions.

Applying for the card

The Relay Visa® Credit Card is currently available by invitation only. For application steps, see Applying for a Relay Visa® Credit Card.

Your business must meet the following to be eligible:

  • U.S.-incorporated and -operated
  • Structured as an LLC, General Partnership, or Corporation (not a Sole Proprietorship)
  • Owned by U.S.-based beneficial owners

To qualify, your business must meet one of these options:

  • Option 1:
    • $50,000+ in average monthly revenue (last 3 months)
    • At least 12 months in business
  • Option 2:
    • $20,000+ in average monthly revenue (last 3 months)
    • At least 6 months in business
    • Maintain at least $25,000 in Relay at the time of application

If you meet these criteria and apply, you'll be asked to:

  • Confirm or update your business details
  • Connect an external business bank account (if prompted). This is optional if your business has at least 90 days of account history with Relay. If you have less than 90 days of history, you may be asked to connect an external account to help us review your application.
  • Set up auto-payment and choose your primary and backup payment accounts
  • Confirm the shipping address for your first physical card

Once approved, we’ll notify you via email and in-app and confirm your monthly credit limit.


How your credit limit works
Your limit may be based on either: (a) the cash you hold in your Relay accounts; or (b) other underwriting criteria we use.

  • If your limit is cash-based, you must keep at least $25,000 in your Relay accounts to qualify.

If your Relay balance falls below $25,000 (for cash-based limits only):

  • If your balance is below $25,000 and you have no active credit card balance, we’ll set your limit to $0 until you replenish.
  • If your balance is below $25,000 and you do have an active balance, we may set your limit to $0 or freeze access until you replenish. You can contact our Customer Experience team to discuss options.

Managing your credit account

Your credit account is your hub for managing the Relay Visa® Credit Card. For more resources see Managing your credit account.

From the credit account you can:

  • View your balance and see pending and settled transactions
  • Track your cash-back earnings
  • See how many cards are linked to your account
  • Download statements
  • Pay your balance and manage auto-payment settings
  • Add or remove team-members from your credit account

Viewing your credit card balance and transactions

At the top of your credit account, a progress bar shows how much of your monthly credit you've used (including pending spend). Below, you’ll see lists of pending and posted transactions.

See how much cash back you’ve earned

Your cash-back rate (up to 1.5%) depends on your Relay plan. In your credit account you’ll see your rate and how much you’ve earned this cycle. See Earning cash back on your Relay Visa® Credit Card for details.

Download statements

Download statements (single cycle or in bulk) in PDF, CSV, or OFX format, or email them to yourself or your adviser. See Downloading statements for your credit account.

Access your Business Credit Report

Customers can access their Business Credit Report Dashboard directly from their Relay account by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Relay account. 
  2. Go to the Accounts tab.
  3. Select your Credit Account from the list of active accounts.
  4. Click View Your Credit Score, located at the top of the page near your next auto-payment date.

You’ll be redirected to your Business Credit Report Dashboard, hosted by our credit reporting partner, Hansa.

Note: This feature is only available to beneficial owners on the account.

Using your credit card

You can create up to 5 per cardholder per credit account. Learn more under Using your Relay Visa® Credit Card.

Assign cards to individual team members or shared teams, each with custom spending limits.

You can also set vendor and category controls to restrict where a card can be used—e.g., a card restricted to gas stations for team members using company vehicles. For setup steps, see Editing vendor and category controls on your Relay Visa® Credit Card.


Frequently Asked Questions

Can I carry a balance on my Relay Visa® Credit Card?

No. You must pay your balance in full at the end of each 30-day billing cycle. Relay does not offer revolving credit, and you cannot carry a balance between cycles.

What happens if I don’t pay my balance in full?

You’ll have a 5-day grace period. If payment isn’t made within that time, your credit account will be locked and a 3% late fee will apply. See Late payment fees and penalties for full details.

What’s the difference between a virtual and physical card?

Virtual cards are issued instantly for online use. Physical cards are plastic cards mailed to you for in-person purchases. You can issue and manage both types from your credit account.

Will the Relay Visa® Credit Card impact my credit score?

Applying: Applying for the Relay Visa® Credit Card does not impact your personal or business credit score (no credit pull).
Ongoing use: Relay reports credit card payment activity to major commercial credit bureaus, which can affect your business credit profile over time. See Credit checks and reporting for more information.
