Sending a payment request
Only team members with Administrator or Manager permissions, or advisors with Super Administrator permissions, can send payment requests on Relay. Only one individual contact can submit payment for a request. Multiple contacts cannot pay for one payment request link.
To send a payment request, follow the steps below:
- Sign in to your Relay account on your desktop.
- Navigate to the Invoices tab on the left-hand side of your screen, then click Quick Request.
- Click Request a Payment.
- Create a new contact to request your payment from, or select an existing contact (you can also select from existing contacts). New contacts will automatically be saved for future requests. Click Continue.
- Enter an amount and select a due date for the payment.
- Select which payment options you would like to accept. You can accept at this time payments via credit/debit cards*, ACH/Domestic Wire, or Pay by bank (ACH Debit). Please note, that all card payments will be charged a processing fee.
- Add a note (such as a description of what the payment is for)
- Click Review Request.
- Review all the details and click on Create Request.

The confirmation page displayed will include the link to your newly-created payment request. You can:
- Copy the request link directly and send it to your customer or
- Click on their email and click on Send payment request and the link will be emailed to your customer.
- Sign in to the Relay mobile app.
- Tap Request Money.

On the Contacts page:
- Select an existing contact, or
- Add a new contact.

If creating a new contact, enter:
- Name
- Phone (optional)
- Billing address (optional)

Choose one of the following:
- Create Contact (saves them to your contact list), or
- Send as a one-time request (does not save them).
- Enter the amount.
- Choose accepted payment options (for example: Card, ACH, Wire, Pay by bank) or charge a saved card (if available).

Add request details:
- Due date
- Notes (optional)
- Attachments (optional)

Review, then choose:
- Create payment link, or
- Create and send request (sent by email, if available)
Canceling a Payment Request
- Sign in to your Relay account on your desktop.
- Navigate to the Invoices tab on the left-hand side of your screen, then locate the payment request in question under the transaction list.
- Click the three vertical dots beside the payment link.
- Click Cancel Request.
- Sign in to the Relay mobile app.
- Tap Payments.
- Tap Payment Requests.
- Open the payment request you want to cancel.
- Tap the three-dot menu (top right).
- Tap Cancel Request or Mark as Paid.
*Card payments are not available in all countries. If any business owner of your business is a citizen or resident of a restricted country, your organization may not be eligible for card payment processing.
