Business owners who grant multiple employees access to their account can modify the abilities within the account (permissions) of each employee of their business.
A new team member’s permissions are determined by the business owner when adding their employee to Relay. To learn more about adding team members, please visit this article.
Below is a breakdown of the seven different permission levels for employees in Relay:
Administrator
Administrators have all the business abilities available in Relay, and have access to every checking account in an overall business account. Business owners are automatically made Administrators.
They can:
- Create ACH, Wire, Check Payments
- Transfer Funds between Checking Accounts
- Make Bill Payments
- Set Bill Approval Rules
- Approve Bills
- Add Funds
- Set up Xero or Quickbooks Integrations
- Deposit Checks on the Relay Mobile App
- Add Team Members
- Add Advisors
- View all Team Members and Advisors
- Issue and Activate Cards
- View all Cards
- Make Card Payments
- View all ACH, Wire, Check and Card Transactions
- Add, Edit, and View all Payees
- Download Statements
Manager
Managers have reduced abilities from Administrators. They can make card payments, though no other forms. A Manager’s access can be restricted to specific checking accounts within an overall business account. This can be set in the Accounts tab when invited.
They can:
- Add Team Members (*only with Card-Only, Read-Only and Deposit-Only permissions)
- View all Team Members and Advisors
- Issue Cards to Team Members
- Activate their own Cards
- View all Cards
- Make Card Payments
- View all ACH, Wire, Check and Card Transactions
- View all Payees
- Download Statements
They cannot:
- Create ACH, Wire, or Check Payments
- Transfer Funds between Checking Accounts
- Make Bill Payments or Set Bill Approval Rules
- Approve Bills
- Add Funds
- Set up Xero or Quickbooks Integrations
- Deposit Checks on the Relay Mobile App
- Add Advisors
- Add or Edit Payees
Bill Payer
Bill Payers also have reduced abilities from Administrators. They can make payments in all forms except card payments. A Bill Payer’s access can be restricted to specific checking accounts within an overall business account.
They can:
- Create ACH, Wire, Check Payments
- Make Bill Payments
- Set up Xero or Quickbooks Integrations
- View all ACH, Wire, Check and Card Transactions
- Add, Edit and View all Payees
- Download Statements
They cannot:
- Transfer Funds between Checking Accounts
- Set Bill Approval Rules
- Approve Bills
- Add Funds
- Add Team Members or Advisors
- Deposit Checks on the Relay Mobile App
- Issue or Activate Cards
- View all Cards
- Make Card Payments
Bill Payer (Imported Bills Only)
Bill Payers (Imported Bills Only) have similar access to Bill Payers, except they can only make bill payments that have been imported from Quickbooks or Xero. A Bill Payer’s (Imported Bills Only) access can be restricted to specific checking accounts within an overall business account.
They can:
- Make Bill Payments
- Set up Xero or Quickbooks Integrations
- View all ACH, Wire, Check and Card Transactions
- Add, Edit and View all Payees
- Download Statements
They cannot:
- Create ACH, Wire, Check Payments
- Transfer Funds between Checking Accounts
- Set Bill Approval Rules
- Approve Bills
- Add Funds
- Add Team Members or Advisors
- Issue or Activate Cards
- View all Cards
- Make Card Payments
Cardholder
A Cardholder's access is restricted to the specific checking accounts to which their card is attached.
They can:
- View all Cards
- Activate Assigned Cards
- Make Card Payments
- View Card Transactions
They cannot:
- Create ACH, Wire, Check Payments
- Transfer Funds between Checking Accounts
- Make Bill Payments, Set Approval Rules, or Approve Bills
- Add Funds
- Set up Xero or Quickbooks Integrations
- Deposit Checks on the Relay Mobile App
- Add Team Members or Advisors
- View Team Members and Advisors
- Issue Cards
- View ACH, Wire, Check Transactions
- Add, Edit, or View all Payees
- Download Statements
Deposit-only
Deposit-only users have no abilities in an account, apart from depositing checks and downloading statements. A Deposit-only user’s access can be restricted to specific checking accounts within an overall business account.
They can:
- Deposit Checks on the Relay Mobile App
- View all ACH, Wire, Check and Card Transactions
- View all Payees
- Download Statements
They cannot:
- Create ACH, Wire, Check Payments
- Transfer Funds between Checking Accounts
- Make Bill Payments, Set Approval Rules, or Approve Bills
- Add Funds
- Set up Xero or Quickbooks Integrations
- Add Team Members
- Add Advisors
- View all Team Members and Advisors
- Issue or Activate Cards
- View all Cards
- Make Card Payments
- Add or Edit Payees
Read-only
Read-only users have no abilities in an account, apart from downloading statements. They can view all payees and transactions. A Read-only user’s access can be restricted to specific checking accounts within an overall business account.
They can:
- View all ACH, Wire, Check and Card Transactions
- View all Payees
- Download Statements
They cannot:
- Create ACH, Wire, Check Payments
- Transfer Funds between Checking Accounts
- Make Bill Payments, Set Approval Rules, or Approve Bills
- Add Funds
- Set up Xero or Quickbooks Integrations
- Deposit Checks on the Relay Mobile App
- Add Team Members
- Add Advisors
- View all Team Members and Advisors
- Issue or Activate Cards
- View all Cards
- Make Card Payments
- View Card Transactions
- Add or Edit Payees
