Using Product & Service Catalogs in Relay Invoices

A catalog lets you save the products and services you sell so you can add them to an invoice in one click instead of retyping line items every time. Your catalog lives in the Catalog tab inside Invoices, where you add, import, and reuse items.

New: You can now save the products and services you sell to a catalog and drop them onto any invoice in one click.

What is a catalog in Relay Invoices?

A catalog is a saved list of the products and services your business sells. Each item stores details like its name, price, and tax so you don't re-enter them on every invoice. When you create an invoice, you pick items from your catalog and Relay fills in the line items for you.

You'll find your catalog in the Catalog tab inside Invoices, alongside Invoices, Recurring series, Contacts, and Settings. Your saved items appear directly in the Catalog tab.

How do I add a catalog item?

Add an item from the Catalog tab so it's ready to reuse on future invoices.

  1. Open Invoices and select the Catalog tab.
  2. In the Catalog tab, select Add item.
  3. Enter the Item name.
  4. Choose a Type: Service, Inventory, or From inventory. Items you sell as From inventory don't count toward your stock.
  5. Add a Description.
  6. Enter the Unit price in USD.
  7. Set the Tax if it applies.
  8. Optionally add an Image (jpg, png, heic, or pdf, up to 5 MB).
  9. Save the item to add it to your catalog.
Pro Tip: Set the tax on each item once, and every invoice you build from your catalog picks it up automatically.

How do I import catalog items from a file?

If you already have a price list or product document, import it instead of adding items one by one.

  1. Open the Catalog tab and select Import file.
  2. Upload a CSV, image, or PDF file.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm the imported item details.
  4. Review the imported items to confirm they look right.
  5. Select Add to catalog to save the items.

How do I add catalog items to an invoice?

Pull items straight from your catalog while you're building an invoice so you don't retype anything.

  1. Start creating an invoice and open the catalog dropdown.
  2. Select an item to add it as a line item in one click.
  3. To add several at once, use the checkboxes to multi-select items, then add them all from the items selected toolbar.

Each item you add comes in as a line item with its saved price, tax, and other details.

How do I edit or archive a catalog item?

Update or retire an item at any time from the Catalog tab.

  1. Open the Catalog tab.
  2. Select the item you want to change.
  3. Edit any field, or archive the item to remove it from your active catalog.

Things to Know

  • Catalog item prices are entered in USD.
